Barbarians B vs Too Sexy FC

Match Report:

Too Sexy took to the pitch for the penultimate time before the winter break on Sunday.  Standing between them and a top 3 spot was Barbarians B, a team that has slowly started to gain momentum this season.  Always a game that both teams love to win so there was a dog fight ahead for both teams.

Too Sexy struggled to find their feet in the beginning stages of the game and were under pressure from the get go.  Barbs piled on the pressure, but some solid defense from the back four kept them at the bay.  Slowly but surely, Too Sexy began to find their rhythm and started to put some slick passes together but struggled to find that finishing touch despite finding ourselves in some dangerous positions in their final third.  For most of the half it seemed to be a battle between the midfields, and with some rapid changes coming from the bench, Too Sexy were slightly on top in that battle.  However, late on in the half, a lapse of concentration saw the Barbs right back find himself some room.  He took a chance from outside the box and put the ball out of reach of the Too Sexy keeper. 1 – 0 to Barbs B.  The rest of the half was much of the same with both teams creating chances but failing to convert.  The half time whistle went as did the last bit of sunshine.  A cold, dark second half awaited the teams.

HT Score: Too Sexy 0 – 1 Barbarians B

The half time team talk urged us not to give up and continue to take the game to them and hopefully some chances would come from the pressure.  Too Sexy started the half very well and were constantly breaking the Barbs defensive line.  Unfortunately with the high line our strikers were playing, they were caught offsides on more than one occasion.  In fact I think some of our strikers bought some prime real estate behind the Barbs defense as they seemed like they didn’t want to move from those offside positions.  Barbs slowly got themselves back in the second half and started  to threaten the Too Sexy goal, but the back 5 stood firm and were determined to not let them breach our defenses again.  It looked as if our defensive stubbornness paid off when a through ball was played through to Amir who neatly put the ball past the Barbs keeper who was caught in no-mans land.  Unfortunately the flag was raised and yet another too sexy striker had moved in beyond enemy lines.  Weather must be nice there this time of year.  That seemed to be our last chance of the game.  Barbs were rewarded a late free kick that should’ve been dealt with easily, but Dylan “waffle hands” Tennant was unable to keep the ball out of his net.  Barbs went 2 – 0 up and that’s how the game would finish.

A tough pill to swallow, but some positives were taken out of that performance.  Unlucky, Too Sexy

Sexy FC vs Cavalier FC

Match Report:

Sexy FC were back in action this week in their last game before the winter break.  We have been on a good run of form lately and were looking to carry on in that vain to cement our place in the title run. Our opponents on the weekend was a very inconsistent Cavalier team.  However, we were not going to be complacent against them and were determined to play the type of football that we have become accustomed to.  Every game is a big game in this league.

In true Cavalier style, they showed up unorganized and a few players short.  The first few minutes of the half were played against 8 players who did not look interested in mounting any sort of attack and looked to capitalize on our mistakes.  We struggled to settle into the game and it took some time for us to find our feet.  However, we put them under a lot of pressure and they eventually succumbed.  A miss trap from the keeper leaving Tim with a wide open net and he put it away. 1 – 0 to Sexy.  After about 15 minutes Cavalier were at full strength and ironically is when Sexy started playing some good football.  We dominated the midfield and started to look more threatening.  Some good interplay saw Robin get in on goal and he calmly slotted it away doubling the score. 2 – 0 Sexy.  The second goal seemed to knock the wind out of their sails and Sexy started to hammer the nails in their coffin. We end of the half couldn’t come soon enough for them and their first half misery was put to an end, but not before Robin got on the end of a pass from Aki to put away his second of the game and Sexy’s third.

HT Score: Sexy FC 3 – 0 Cavalier

The half time talk urged us not to get complacent and continue to put the pressure on them as they would most definitely not be able to handle it.  Sexy started the half from where they left off; creating chances and closing them down before they could create any of their own.  Some fresh legs were brought on and it paid off almost immediately as Urias ran through the defense like a hot knife through butter and produced an even smoother finish. 4 – 0 to sexy.  The game was all but over but Sexy continued to dominate and went for the proverbial jugular when Urias and Jeremy switched roles.  Urias neatly setting Jeremy up and Jeremy not disappointing in putting Sexy 5 – 0 up.  Cavalier were pretty much buried at this point, but they were awarded a free kick in a dangerous position.  The ball was curled over the wall and was heading for the top corner, but Dylan managed to pull off a decent save to keep the clean sheet dream alive.  Sexy’s last goal came from some clinical decision making.  A quick release from Dylan got Leo free down the wing who then put Deo through on goal who finished off the quick counter with a well placed shot. 6 – 0 Sexy.  The final whistle blew shortly after and Sexy went into the break in a very good position to kick on from in the new year.
